For the last week I’ve been posting inspirations for you to activate your superpowers for whatever your journey may be on. Many of us are in transitions right now: graduations, relocation, preretirement and post career life planning. One way to help you navigate these exciting and at times challenging times, is to leverage your greatest superpowers and talents.
Some people approach transitions like a train with definitive planful stops. Others approach transition like a golden retriever, bounding and exploring. The superpowers of the planful train approach and the bounding golden retriever are quite different.
If you view transitions like like riding a train. You know the route, there are specific stops along the way, you get off and on based on a set itinerary. This approach strives for the best results and will make slight adjustments along the way to move through the transition from good to great.Clifton Strengths Finder calls this superpower, Maximizer. Using your superpower of Maximizer will ensure you have a great ride and a great transition
Perhaps though, you are more like a golden retriever during a transition. Bounding around the field, looking at the flowers, sniffing the ground and the sky and enjoying the adventure. You might run in circles some times but you enjoy the run, a roll in the grass and meeting up with other bounding friends.People with this super power is what Clifton Strengths Finder calls Strategic. Strategics do a lot of pros and cons analysis before getting to the goal. These Strategic superpowers can appear like a golden retriever bounding around a field, but in reality it’s just analyzing all the options. Analyzing all the options is also a successful way to navigate transitions.
Two very different approaches, neither one better than the other. What superpowers can you tap into for your transition? Are you more of a train or a golden retriever? Or maybe you are a golden retriever on a train!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this superpower series. If you have more questions about your superpowers let’s set up a time to talk.
