Have you received a package with “FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE” posted on the outside? What’s your strategy for moving it around?
As we move towards the end of 2020 there are so many fragile packages moving around.
- Tired teachers
- Hungry families and individuals
- People without jobs or underemployed
- Weary parents trying to toggle between teacher and employee
- People with Covid
- Families who have lost loved ones to Covid
- Individuals and Families who have missed and are missing traditions and milestones together.
When a fragile package arrives at a door, the recipient picks it up with just a little extra care. Maybe as we go into the final weeks of 2020 and the early months of the New Year we should handle each other with just a little extra care.
When the pandemic began I adopted my “pandemic pause” approach to people who were easily frustrated, irritated, sent venting emails or just said rather rude impulsive things. In my pandemic pause I’d take a big breath and say to myself…”I wonder what else could be going on for this person today during the pandemic?” This helped me from getting sucked into a drama cycle and kept me in a more generous place.
Perhaps for the holidays I’ll shift this from Pandemic Pause to Handle with Care. In my big breath I’ll ask to myself… “I wonder what is making that person Fragile today?” And maybe just maybe we’ll get through these final pre-vaccine days with a little more love and grace.
Stay Strong.
